Full-Time Temp-to-hire Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Wage: $28-$40 per hour
Reports To: Human Resources Director

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Los Angeles. They provide housing, supportive services, and long-term pathways to self-sufficiency for individuals in need. The Opportunity
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting a growing organization of more than 170 employees. This position provides full-scope HR support across benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, compensation, and recruitment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, compassionate, and dedicated to maintaining efficient, compliant, and people-focused HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits & Leave Administration
Manage employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, HSA, and retirement plans.
Partner with the organization’s benefits broker and vendors to ensure accurate enrollment, billing, and reconciliation.
Coordinate new hire and open enrollment processes, providing education and support to employees.
Administer FMLA, CFRA, ADA, FEHA, and other leave programs while maintaining accurate documentation.
Employee Relations
Serve as a trusted resource for employees on workplace concerns and policy questions.
Support HR leadership with investigations, coaching, and performance management.
Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture aligned with the organization’s mission.
Compliance & HR Operations
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with California and federal labor laws.
Support audits, reporting, and compensation benchmarking.
Ensure HR policies and practices reflect legal and organizational standards.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Assist with recruitment and onboarding, including new hire orientations and benefits presentations.
Provide backup support for payroll and recruiting functions as needed.
Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
Workers’ Compensation & Accommodations
Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, documentation, and follow-up.
Lead the interactive process for medical accommodations and return-to-work planning.
Maintain compliance with California workers’ compensation laws and leave requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required)
SHRM-CP or PHR certification (preferred)
Minimum 3 years of HR experience, ideally with benefits or employee relations focus
Nonprofit or social services experience a plus
