Description

Under the general direction of the Maternal and Child Health Director, and supervision of the department coordinators, the Surgical Technician is responsible for providing technical support for all surgical procedures in the scrub role.⯠The primary responsibility is preparation and set up of instrumentation and supplies specific to a surgical case, and performing in the scrub role.⯠Performs scrub role in equipment, preparation of the surgical patient, and with the general environment for patient care.⯠Nursing care provided is specific to patients of different age groups.

This position requires the Surgical Technician to also provide back-up administrative coverage for the unit as needed, including answering phones and call lights, and assisting with patient arrival and admission processes within the electronic health record (EHR).

This position has a required float between Ronald Reagan (RR) UCLA and Santa Monica (SM) UCLA L&D units as censes needs require with main responsibility to RRUCLA Perinatal Units.

Salary Range: $37.50- $49.46 hourly

Qualifications

We’re seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with:â¯

 

  • Graduation form accredited Surgical Tech Programâ¯required
  • Surgical Tech certificationâ¯required
  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Associationâ¯required
  • 1 year of experience as Surgical Techâ¯required
  • Previous OBGYN and trauma surgery experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of the use, function and operation of all operating room equipmentâ¯
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Working knowledge of surgical procedures including anatomy and correct terminology
  • Ability to set priorities, recognize emergency situations and take the appropriate action under the direction of the nurse in charge
  • Ability to move objects, such as heavy carts and handle surgical equipment safely
