Department Summary Housed under the newly developed University Consortium of Schools (previously PreK-12), the UCLA Lab School is an innovative school for children ages 4-12 and a laboratory for teachers and researchers in the School of Education & Information Studies (SE&IS) at UCLA. Through the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of students, admissions, enrollment, and communication professionals at UCLA Lab School play a critical role in the school?s vitality and educational culture. Along with administrators, they represent the institution in promotion, recruitment, admission, re- enrollment, and retention activities Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI), the IT Coordinator serves as the primary technology support for UCLA Lab School. The incumbent ensures the varied technology needs of the school’s diverse user-based comprised of 1500 users in distinct user groups including: administrators, demonstration teachers, instructional aids, development staff, parents, students extended day program (EDP) staff, and finance/business office personnel. Provides technical support for the UCLA Lab School, which is a part of the School of Education & Information Studies (SEIS). The incumbent will configure and provide workstations, diagnose and repair computer hardware/software problems, assist users with computer-related problems and issues, and monitor the Help Hub. The incumbent will initiate, track, and close customer service calls, and perform special assignments as required, as well as provide programming and analysis support for various administrative and academic applications systems and databases. The IT Coordinator is responsible for providing end-users with a single point of contact for all technology-related requests for support. S/he will serves as an advocate for the customer, assuming ownership of customer issues and ensuring successful resolutions, while maintaining ongoing communication with customers regarding the status of their request. Qualifications IT / Technical Support & Coordination A deep understanding of computer systems and networks, and knowledge of internet security and data privacy (Required) And Experience with maintaining the organization?s computer and network systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up networks, and helping employees with IT problems. (Required) And Demonstrated experience with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and good organizational and time-management skills. (Required) And Experience with organizing and managing IT related projects and systems. (Required) Able to speak clearly and distinctly, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar, to obtain and convey information and explain policies and procedures both in person and on the phone to people at various organizational levels (Required) Excelling working knowledge and maintenance of Apple OS X and knowledge of Windows OS office application software, such as, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite Apps, and Apple and Google Apps. (Preferred) Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on schedule and report upon status of task. (Required) Organizational skills sufficient to inventory, catalog, and track equipment, manuals, and software to determine availability of resources at any given. (Required) Working knowledge of standard IT support practices: Help Desk concepts and functions, desktop client setup and configuration, printer setup and installation. (Required) Ability to analyze situations and define the problem or objective, formulate conclusions and recognize alternatives. (Required) Experience using Apple network applications (e.g., file sharing, print sharing). (Required) Familiarity with various educational software applications. (Required) Ability to work with frequent interruptions and/or priorities with minimal supervision. (Required) Skills to write concise, logical, grammatically correct documentation and training material. (Required) Working knowledge of network cabling sufficient to connect and troubleshoot workstations connections to network. (Required) Working knowledge of digital video devices, overhead projectors, cameras, scanners. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
