Your opportunity to be a part of an award winning team, advancing your career journey, is now! The Incumbent performs a variety of sleep studies to diagnose the type and extent of disorders. Works closely with patients to diagnose and determine therapy for patients with a variety of disorders related to sleep. Technologist’s will record and score sleep data and prepare raw data for physician and/or research interpretation. Additionally, will assist in the training and onboarding of new employees, providing guidance to sleep technicians and trainees. Sleep Studies: Prepares home sleep studies for patient use. Instruct patient on the use and care of the equipment. Upon return of equipment, transfer and score raw data for physician interpretation. 10% Sleep Studies: Effectively determines patient needs based on age-specific criteria. Effectively operates all equipment. Performs testing/procedures such as EOG, EEG, EKG, EMG, Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration. Reviews planned procedures and orders for monitoring and determines appropriate course of monitoring. Monitors patients during testing/procedures ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Ability to do all other modalities included in adult and pediatric patients. Score raw data for physician interpretation. 60% Sleep Studies: Collaborates effectively with all members of the health care team. Notifies physician of any concerns in regard to patient condition. Verifies testing or procedures against established guidelines. Reviews patient results with physicians or other care providers in a timely manner. Participates in education of Sleep Technologists, students and Medical Center staff as necessary. 15% Sleep Equipment: Accurately and appropriately performs daily quality control on equipment ensuring all appropriate records are kept as required, interprets data regarding patient status in consideration of patient age, and performs computer data entry of patient setup and treatment information in a timely manner. Records procedures to ensure correct billing, reviews procedure charges at the end of each day to ensure accuracy. Responsible for documentation of patient treatment in EMR and log per department’s protocols. 5% Sleep Equipment : Prepares equipment and supplies for testing/procedures in an organized and timely manner. Appropriately assesses, controls, orders, and maintains supply inventory according to physician preferences and patient population. Performs appropriate disinfection procedures on patient treatment equipment. Keeps work area clean and uncluttered. 5% Ongoing Education and Development: Attends staff meetings, departmental in-services, case study review, or annual conferences. Required Qualifications: Ability to function independently with minimal supervision Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Associates degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills BLS Required 3 or more years of direct patient care experience in Sleep Disorders 2 or more years experience as an RPSGT Registration through BRPT and the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnographic Technologist Computer skills appropriate to the job Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish 6 months working in an accredited sleep center Digital and Analog equipment experience.
