Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Incumbent provides routine informatics support for EPIC and Ancillary Departmental Systems. Additionally, provides support for the hardware and software environments necessary to ensure effective operations and gives guidance relative to new applications and technology. Provides application support for assigned departments and work groups. Supports the hardware and software environments across all platforms, including but not limited to, application support, hardware support and troubleshooting, and network support and troubleshooting. Works closely with the Applications team assigned to these areas to coordinate and collaborate with various stakeholders, system users, HAIS, and/or vendors to investigate problems and to devise solutions. ( 40% IS: Works closely with multi-disciplinary users to understand the specific informatics requirements and to ensure the systems meet their needs. 20% IS: Serves as system support to maintain the integrity and operation of clinical systems. Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of wireless network configurations and limitations related to a clinical environment Working knowledge of Thin client and other terminal related technologies Working knowledge of Mac OS Working knowledge of Capsule Technology Data Capture software Willingness and ability to work occasional weekends and evenings Understanding of DNS, DHCP, WINS Thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with internal and/or external customers Some knowledge of open source operating systems such as Linux Prior experience supporting clinical end users in a rapidly changing environment Prior experience supporting and configuring bio medical device interfacing to documentation systems Must carry a pager/phone and provide on-call support for IT related issues Knowledge of operating system internals, file systems, functions of hardware components, and how hardware and software components work together to form a computer system Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols General understanding of scripting languages General knowledge of Phone devices General knowledge of PDA and Phone devices Extensive understanding of Microsoft Office Suite Extensive experience with Windows XP/Vista/7 Extensive experience with Windows XP/Vista/7/10 Experience with Device Integration middleware such as Capsule, DeviceConX and Cerner Experience using Microsoft Office Applications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to independently problem solve Desktop issues 4+ years desktop support experience in a networked business environment Preferred Qualifications: Programming experience in Visual Basic Prior experience supporting end users in the Clinical environment Prior experience supporting Biomedical Device Integration MCSE Certification Experience working with Epic EMR and its various modules Blackberry Server Administration experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or other healthcare related field with course work in systems analysis and development Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
