POSITION The LACCD is accepting applications for Media Arts Instructor positions at our colleges for the 2025 Academic School Year. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants so that when there is an actual opening at a one of our colleges, the college can then begin their review process by reviewing those applicants. The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate our students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty and administrators. Final determination of part-time MEDIA ARTS Instructor assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding and class availability. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience, which must be directly related to the teaching assignment; OR Associate’s degree AND six years of professional experience, which must be directly related to the teaching assignment. A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT COVID 19 VACCINATION: Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee’s Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Experience working on professional film/media productions in development, distribution, and marketing. Experience teaching courses at the community college or university level in development, scheduling, budgeting, distribution, and marketing for the entertainment industry. Experience working on professional film/media productions in the areas of production, camera, lighting, DIT, and sound recording. Experience teaching courses at the community college or university level in production, camera, lighting, DIT, and sound recording for the entertainment industry. Experience working on professional film/media productions in post-production, editing, sound mixing, visual effects, and finishing. Experience teaching courses at the community college or university level in post-production, editing, sound mixing, visual effects, and finishing for the entertainment industry. Experience working on professional film/media productions in motion capture, 3D animation, and virtual reality. Experience teaching courses at the community college or university level in motion capture, 3D animation, and virtual reality for the entertainment industry. Canvas certification and two years of experience teaching online courses at the community college or university level in the topics listed above. Skills in Adobe Ceative suites, Maya, Z-Brush, Toon Boom. Production/work experience: Animation (Character Modeling, Story Boarding), Game Design, eSports, Motion Graphics. DUTIES The adjunct instructor should be prepared to teach a range of technical and theory courses within the Media Arts discipline. These courses may include: production, producing, cinematography, editing, production sound recording, sound editing and mixing, motion graphics, visual effects, and color grading/correction. Also required is the promotion of engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning. The successful candidate will be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences. COMPENSATION The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $85.09 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $19.91 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential. REMOTE LEARNING Faculty may be required to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other methods of remote learning. Applicants with demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas or Course Compass or other online modalities may be given preference.
