Job Description

This position reports to Swing (2) shift. This shift schedule is Monday-Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Due to business need, on select occasion employees may be required to work overtime and/or support operations on an alternate shift.

About the role:

The Stationary Engineer will lead, and provide focused support to drive the maintenance, preventive, and corrective maintenance of the Critical Systems equipment. Ensure the LA Plant Critical Systems equipment is running within the validated states. You will be responsible for maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on the Critical Systems equipment including Process Instrumentation. Prepare detailed documented work orders. Understanding of advanced process and control theory of a Critical or Major system.

How you will contribute:

  • Responsible for operation and repairs of Critical Utilities Systems and associated mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective work orders for critical utilities systems.

  • Respond to urgent and emergency work orders for the Critical Systems department.

  • Close assigned work orders in JDE System.

  • Complete Change Control documentation (PRs) if required by the assigned work order.

  • Shall be trained and qualified on designated facility SOPs governing the operation of boiler room equipment, critical systems, utilities and local GMP practices.

  • Will provide a moderate level of troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair of Critical utilities systems, equipment and equipment components which include distillation units, boilers, air compressors, pumps, piping, blowers, vacuum pumps, HVAC, Chillers, and plumbing components.

  • Requires familiarity with generally accepted building, plumbing, piping, electrical, and fire protection practices and codes.

  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, UBS, UMC and UPC in compliance with L.A. City, CA state and federal EPA regulation and laws.

  • Must follow safety rules and responsible system repairs, upkeep, maintenance and operations managed within regulating agencies to include L.A. City Building & Safety, SCAQMD, L.A. City Bureau of Sanitation, CAL OSHA and OSHA PSM.

  • Must have a knowledge of instrumentation and mechanical systems, such as controllers, indicators, control valves, PLC, analyzers, sensors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Knowledge of Delta V and CMMS systems such as JDE, Maximo, Blue Mountain RAM, etc.

  • You must be proficient in many mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement.

  • Must have knowledge in Lock out/Tag out (LOTO) programs.

  • Read, write and interpret technical documents and instructions, electrical and mechanical drawings, equipment blue prints and piping and instrumentation drawings (P&ID).

  • Will work overtime on a short notice and support standby program.

  • Perform disposal of hazardous waste.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • High school diploma or GED. 4+ years of related work experience or AA degree or higher and 2+ years related work experience.

  • A.A./A.S. technical discipline or Journeyman skilled craft training/apprenticeship certificate or commensurate combination of technical education and experience is highly desirable.

  • City Los Angeles Unlimited Steam Engineer’s license

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

  • Must able to climb ladders and move about in closed quarters facility non-manufacturing support areas.

  • Will work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body

Important Considerations

  • May wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other clean room garments daily. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, aprons, face shields, lab coats, full body gowns, hair nets and gloves and hearing protection.

  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • Work in a cold, wet environment.

  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours,.

  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$22.55 – $35.43

The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term incentives.
