Position assists the interventional radiologist, cardiologist, vascular surgeon or other physicians as assigned, in the performance of minimally invasive and invasive fluoroscopic guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Procedures consist of complex vascular and non-vascular procedures including cardiovascular, electrophysiology, endovascular and neurological interventions. The technologist is responsible for pre-procedural set up, operating various radiology and support equipment, sterile field, scrub and circulating assistance during the procedure. The technologist is responsible for image archive management and appropriate documentation for the purpose of supply management, billing and procedural documentation. The Technologist assumes responsibility for ancillary tasks/duties associated with the delivery of high quality, safe and cost efficient patient care. The technologist assists attending physicians, fellows, clinical nurses and CVTs with all aspects of the procedure. By the nature of this position, the technologist has access to medications and contract solutions associated with the delivery of direct patient care. He/she participates in the training of less senior Radiologic Technologists and students. RESOURCE MGMT_ Responsibly manages inventory by properly using supply chain management tools provided. 10% QUALITY_ Actively participates on the department’s process/quality improvement team to ensure that best practices are applied and support the continued efforts to improve patient outcomes and experiences. Supports the academic nature of the medical center engaging in and supporting the teaching role and research efforts. 10% CLIN_ Prepares procedure room, the patient, sterile field, supplies, equipment and all materials needed to perform the procedure. Assumes responsibility for ancillary tasks/duties associated with the delivery of procedural care such as, but not limited to, documentation of charges, ordering of supplies, conducting environmental safety rounds, and maintaining department records associated with patient care activities. 15% CLIN_ Performs procedural due diligence to ensure images are processed and archived and the RIS/EMR systems are updated with accurate information as it relates to the patient’s medical record and billing. 10% CLIN_ Assists in advanced fluoroscopic guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the, Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab, Hybrid Operating and Interventional Radiology room setting. Operates various radiology and support equipment. . Assist with the care of the patient within scope of licensure. Assist with procedural documentation. Required Qualifications: ACLS certification upon hire CRT license/certification ARRT license/certification Advanced ARRT Certification in Cardiac and/ or Vascular Interventional Radiography CDHP Radiologic Technologist Fluroscopy permit A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience as a Radiology Technologist in a Cardiac Catheterization, Peripheral Vascular and EP Lab Must maintain a high level of decorum to maintain the collegial team approach needed to operate in this environment Must support the academic nature of the organization engaging in and supporting the teaching role and research Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment Current BLS certification Must be available to work evenings, nights and/or weekends. Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience working in a Hybrid Operating Room Setting Bachelor Degree in Radiation Science Experience in a wide array of interventional technology and possible applications as well as current generation fixed fluoroscopic equipment, 3D and virtual CT capabilities, and post processing Knowledge and practice of hemodynamic monitoring, EKG and pressure waveforms Experience with electrophysiology procedures Experience working in more than one specialized radiology setting Bilingual Preferred Licenses and Certifications: PALS (Preferred) Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
