The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists in patient research accrual by varied projects and reviewing patient schedules against available protocols. Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse’s new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC)Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager. Required Qualifications: Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Current California RN license Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques Knowledge and practice of body mechanics Current chemotherapy/biotherapy card required within 2 months of hire Knowledge of complications associated with HSCT and CAR-T Cell Therapy BMT and CAR-T cell therapy patient population knowledge Minimum 6 months experience working as an RN in an Inpatient or Outpatient Oncology setting OR 1 Year clinical experience and recent completion of cancer basics class and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation course from Oncology Nursing Society within the previous year Training and experience in the management of patients receiving cellular therapy Ability to work effectively with colleagues, physicians and others as part of a care team Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Current BLS certification Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families Oncology Certification Understanding of JCAHO requirements Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
