Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The Emergency Department Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care. Supervises staff and emergency services while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing Human Resources functions; directing patient care activities; implementing work place changes; monitoring unit budgets; and participating on performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others. Required Qualifications: Must maintain Emergency Services Clinical Competencies Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission Requirements Demonstrated experience in a leadership role Demonstrated experience in a leadership role which may include leading a project, shared governance chair, charge nurse, etc. Complete understanding of patient classification system & staffing requirements for the patient population Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Bachelor of Science, Nursing Preferred Qualifications: Unit specific nursing certification Recent Emergency Room experience Licenses and Certifications: RN PALS BLS ACLS Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
