Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The incumbent is responsible for conducting high quality, fully documented, targeted fetal ultrasounds and participates in the preparation and execution of research projects as directed. The incumbent will also provide guidance and direction to other technologists in the department. Essential Job Functions: The identification of essential functions below is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties that may be assigned to this position, nor does it restrict the duties which may be assigned to this position if such duties reasonably relate to the position. Prepares patients and assists physicians during special procedures, i.e., amniocentesis, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling (PUBS), Chorionic villi sampling (CVS) and fetal surgery. Performs transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. 20% Participates in the coordination of scheduling ultrasound examinations to evaluate congenital fetal anomalies as well as gynecological ultrasound examinations. Performs ultrasound on genetic patients, including AFP patients, biophysical profiles and AFI and early pregnancy scans for permanent documentation. 40% Independently responsible for operations and maintenance of all Ultrasound equipment, including maintenance agreements. Requests service calls when required, orders and stocks ultrasound supplies as well as keeping inventory of such supplies. 10% Contributes original views and methodology to achieve optimal research goals. Attends and presents perinatal ultrasound findings in the multidisciplinary meeting function (patients and families, social worker, genetic counselors and physicians.) to provide quality medical management of patients. Assists with the collection of specimens for study patients. 5% Assures high quality, fully targeted perinatal ultrasounds for assessments are continually executed and evaluates and determines the acceptability of each patient’s scan to ensure optimal studies. 20% Assists with the technical training of perinatal ultrasound to medical students, residents, fellows and other medical staff members. Participates in yearly ultrasound educational conferences, i.e., hands on Instructional skills and learning. Required Qualifications: Ability to regularly travel locally to Ambulatory Clinic off-site locations Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple/competing priorities and deadlines Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English BLS Required Previous experience with pulsed and continuous wave Doppler flow Previous experience and ability to perform transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds Previous experience and ability in guiding needle placements during genetic amniocentesis Two years of college, preferably with courses in physiology, psychology and electronics, and two years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Fetal Echocardiography Certification Nuchal Translucency Certification Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Ability to comprehend & utilize computer systems to retrieve & enter data.
