Reporting to the Ultrasound Supervisor, incumbent will perform the full range of non-invasive vascular exams, vascular ultrasound, and may perform general ultrasound when needed. This includes M-mode, 2-dimensional, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler. Recognizes and describes abnormal findings, follows protocols and tailors the procedure to provide a comprehensive exam. Will perform exams on adults and pediatric patients. Will prepare and position patients, adjust equipment to best demonstrate area of interest, operate various stationery and portable equipment and imaging systems. May rotate to other areas of the medical center. Hours will include holiday rotation. The vascular technologist will assist in the training of technologists, fellows and students as assigned. Will be responsible for statistics and record keeping. Will maintain equipment and log all reported repairs. Must be able to work independently and provide written impressions for the radiologist and vascular surgeons. The technologist is expected to display professional conduct at all times in their interactions with other staff members, patients and visitors. RAD – Monitors patients, diagnostic procedures, and diagnostic equipment making appropriate adjustments to ensure optimal results 20% RAD – Effectively performs routine and complex ultrasound procedures ensuring optimal imaging. Sets parameters in accordance with established protocols or physician orders. Assist with special procedures and the care of the patient within scope of licensure. Assist with procedural documentation and ensures timely and accurate test results. 20% RAD – Effectively manages patients during procedures. Positions patients as necessary to ensure accurate testing in consideration of age. Coordinates patient requirements during diagnostic procedures and/or transportation to ensure patient safety. Effectively determines patient need based on age-specific criteria. Maintains a sterile environment and ensures effective PPE for each patient. 20% CLIN_Provides accurate theoretical and practical instruction to resident physicians, US students and staff sonographers 20% CLIN_ Performs procedural due diligence to ensure images are processed and archived and the RIS/EMR systems are updated with accurate information as it relates to the patient’s medical record and billing 20% What It Takes to be Successful Total Compensation We offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding. Required Qualifications: Registered Vascular Technologist Certification (RVT) bility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System 5 years experience as a vascular technologist in a hospital or dedicated lab and two years experience in diagnostic ultrasound Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Must possess A.R.D.M.S. certification Current BLS certification Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Competent with the following exams: NICU, Vascular surgery, Elastography, Penile doppler, Breast imaging, Foam Therapy, Venous reflex exams, dialysis access, arterial upper and lower extremity, carotid Doppler studies, and TIPPS Must perform both inpatient and outpatient exams, and all other ultrasound exams as needed Experience with Pediatric ultrasound to include neonatal heads Signed off on Vascular and TCD by a UCI designated official. If external, must be signed off within 90 days of hire.
