Vice President of Student Services LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT P ROFESSIONAL O PPORTUNITIES Los Angeles Mission College Announces an opening for the position of Vice President of Student Services Expanding Learning Opportunities for Students Salary Range: $202,627 – $251,019 DEADLINE : October 17, 2024 Introduction: The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) announces an opening for a full-time Vice President of Student Services at Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC), a community college that serves more than 20,000 students from diverse socio- economic backgrounds. The College is one of nine in the LACCD. Founded in 1975, LAMC is located in Sylmar and has strong historical ties to the neighboring communities of San Fernando, Mission Hills, North Hills, Panorama City, Granada Hills, a new site in Pacoima, and multiple outreach locations. The College provides excellent transfer, basic skills, transitional and career education programs. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Vice President of Student Services (VPSS) reports directly to the President and is a member of the senior staff. The VPSS serves as the Chief Student Services Officer and is responsible for comprehensive student services, including planning, policy, and budget development/management. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet minimum requirements as an administrator: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; and One year of full-time formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment. The required degree must be completed at the time of filing an application. Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socioeconomic, academic, cultural, and ethnic diversity within the community college population, including students with physical and/or learning disabilities. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Three years of successful full-time experience (dean or higher) in accredited institutions of higher education. 2. Successful full-time experience as a faculty member in accredited institutions of higher education. 3. Community College experience. 4. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. 5. Knowledge of the California Education Code related to Student Services. 6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in participatory governance, consensus building, and team management. 7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 8. Experience with accreditation and student learning outcomes (SLOs). 9. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides overall leadership for the college in all operational activities related to Student Services at all college locations. 2. Ensures that all Student Services Programs complete timely and accurate governmental reporting and compliance with laws and regulations within the area of responsibility. 3. Oversees the coordination of the Education Master Plan goals and objectives assigned to Student Services, with special emphasis on student success. 4. Actively participates in the college’s shared governance committees and plays a leadership role. 5. On an on-going basis, provides leadership for accreditation issues related to Student Services. Coordinates annual unit plans and program reviews, and service outcomes. 6. Oversees the planning and implementation of the Student Support Success program. 7. Administers the following areas in conjunction with college personnel: Admissions and Records Associated Student Union (Student Activities) Athletics Basic Needs Center Behavioral Intervention Team Black Scholars CAFYES CalWORKs Career Center College Culture Re-Entry Hub Counseling Dream Resource Center DSPS Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)/CARE Financial Aid programs Foster Kinship Care Education International Students Program Outreach and Recruitment Promise Puente Program Student Health Center TRIO Transfer Center Veterans Resource Center Welcome Center 8. Supervises and evaluates assigned faculty, clerical and administrative staff. 9. Represents the college in district, regional, and state level activities related to Student Services operations. 10.
