Congenital Cardiac Surgeon – Health Sciences Assistant or Associate Professor University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF09770 The Department of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a highly qualified academic congenital cardiac surgeon for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital continues to be at the forefront of congenital heart surgery in Southern California and nationwide. Our surgical team works collaboratively with the interventional cardiology team to perform ground-breaking ‘hybrid’ procedures on select patients to provide a less invasive treatment for congenital heart and valvular disease. The Division of Cardiac Surgery maintains one of the largest adult congenital programs, with excellence in cardiac transplantation. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished and ABTS certified surgeon with a full spectrum skill set ranging from neonatal surgery to complex congenital transplantation to complex adult congenital surgery. The program highly values collaborative and constructive work between multiple medical disciplines. The candidate must possess the ability to be adaptive, work in more than one location, and provide a value-added contribution beyond the clinical role in one or more of the following domains: innovation, education, research, leadership, and enterprise growth. Clinical effectiveness and teamwork ability will be required to meet the highest standard. The clinical practice will be primarily at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and secondarily at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. The candidate must possess an M.D., be ABTS board eligible or certified, and be eligible for California medical licensure. The salary will be commensurate with academic rank and experience.
