Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Then you’ll be in your element when you join the collaborative surety underwriting team as an intern at Liberty Mutual.

The details

Our bond underwriters focus on two fundamental questions: Should Liberty Mutual issue a bond to a particular customer? What will the financial terms and conditions of the bond be?

 

Join our team as an surety underwriting intern and challenge yourself to uncover the answers.

 

During this 11 week internship, you’ll acquire and develop analytical skills and knowledge in financial and credit analysis, marketing, account evaluation, and/or contract and project risk assessment necessary to underwrite Surety bonds.

 

Best of all, at the close of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a future career with Liberty Mutual Surety, the 2nd largest Surety in the United States.

Qualifications

What you’ve got

  • You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or comparable with at least one semester remaining following the Summer of 2025 with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • You have 0-2 years of professional experience.
  • You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
  • You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service and fostering relationships.
  • You must be available to work full-time for 11 weeks
  • You must have permanent work authorization in the United States
