Department Summary Strategy, Planning, and Operations leads and manages a large and complex portfolio of IT projects and programs while establishing partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts with students, faculty, staff, and external partners on behalf of the IT organization. The Strategy, Planning, and Operations Office also manages organizational initiatives and efforts, including general administrative functions, financial management and budgeting, vendor management and licensing, billing, internal communications, department human resources, talent management, and culture development.The Campus & External Engagement team unlocks opportunities for UCLA to connect to the future through strategic and cross-functional partnerships with leading technology companies and the university. The team champions technology initiatives within campus units, ensuring a positive and optimal experience for UCLA stakeholders Position Summary The Senior Events & Engagement Analyst will play a pivotal role in enhancing digital communication strategies, user experience, and engagement initiatives within the ITS department as well as with its university engagement efforts. This position is responsible for collaborating across departments to manage projects and deliver cohesive communication and engagement strategies that align with the department’s values and objectives. Key responsibilities include assessing, developing, and executing comprehensive communication programs such as newsletters, biweekly all-staff updates, quarterly in-person meetings, and ongoing updates to keep all team members well-informed and engaged. The analyst will also curate positive experiences for both virtual and in-person interactions, whether it be for significantly enhancing the overall employee experience or collaborating with internal and external partners. This role involves organizing and supporting key events like technology demo days, speaking panels, and ITS “Co-Lo Days,” which feature catered lunches and guest speakers from industry and higher education. These efforts are central to promoting and building a strong, inclusive culture within the ITS department as well as the benefits of partnership, ensuring that all activities reflect and reinforce the department’s values and objectives. The Senior Events & Engagement Analyst will positively impact UCLA’s operations and culture by developing and strengthening ITS culture and engagement in support of the university’s academic mission. This team member will advance the University’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Three years experience working in one or more of the following fields: project management, communications, organizational culture, information technology, or related field. (Required) Experience in developing and executing internal communication programs. In-depth understanding of internal communication strategies and best practices. (Required) Experience in creating and implementing employee engagement initiatives, including planning and organizing events. (Required) Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (Required) Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required) Five or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: project management, communications, organizational culture, information technology. (Preferred) Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred) Knowledge of techniques and methods to foster employee engagement and enhance organizational culture. (Required) Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. (Required) Awareness of the unique challenges and opportunities within an IT department in a university setting that contribute to culture and engagement. (Required) Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. Can relay technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required) Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required) Proven organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and deliver concurrent projects to various stakeholder types. (Required) Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity. (Required) Thinks creatively and introduces innovations such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of: communications, organizational culture and development, information technology, business administration, or another related field, or equivalent experience/training. (Required) Special Conditions for Employment This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement). The anticipated pay range for this position is $174,116.80 – $195,253.30, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
