The USC Clinical Trial Office (CTO) is seeking a Senior Contract Officer. The Senior Contract Officer is responsible for the accurate and comprehensive negotiation of industry clinical trial agreements. The Senior Contract Officer shall serve as a subject matter expert in relevant laws and regulations as it relates to the conduct of clinical trials. The Senior Contract Officer is responsible for understanding University policies around research and ensuring that clinical trial agreements align with these policies. Other responsibilities include patient, informed and helpful assistance to Principal Investigators (PIs) and staff in preparation, submission, and management of research projects, and working with department and CTO staff to assist in development of budgets associated with clinical trial agreements. The Senior Contract Officer knows and follows institutional and departmental policies and procedures, and guides PIs and staff on policy as they apply to research administration. The candidate should possess skills to conduct in-service training seminars for PIs and staff as needed. This role serves as an information source for the department and research community. Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment with frequent interruptions. This position requires the analytical abilities to identify and review problem situations, make independent decisions and/or recommend solutions. Must be able to communicate to individuals at varying levels effectively verbally and in writing. A high degree of accuracy is mandatory when negotiating contractual terms. Must be able to manage an unpredictable and voluminous workload while providing quality service and meet deadlines through organization, interpersonal skills, and by accurate prioritization of activities. The candidate must possess the ability to effectively work with a team.
