Department Summary The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to support undergraduate, graduate and professional school student development, empowerment and success through connection with dedicated diverse staff who provide mental health services that encourage Health, Healing, and Hope. CAPS strives to provide: Short-term, high-quality culturally affirming mental health treatment including assessment, consultation and case management; group and individual therapy; and psychiatry services. Culturally responsive community mental health training and wellness education in collaboration with the Resilience in your Student Experience (RISE) Center. The Crisis Evaluation & Response in the Field (CERF) team serves as the campus mobile mental health crisis response team. The CERF team provides mental health services to UCLA students as well as consultation services to faculty, staff, and the campus community. Services are designed to assist students in optimizing their educational experience, minimizing risks, including risk of harm to self or others, minimizing impact of psychiatric illness and emotional distress on students’ academic careers by coordinating mental health care through a network of campus and community resources. The CERF Team supports students in crisis to provide stabilization in the least restrictive manner possible, reduce repeat crises/hospitalizations, reduce Law Enforcement contact for psychiatric emergencies, manage crises through collaboration between clinician and student, and linkage to appropriate campus and community resources. CERF clinicians respond to mental health emergencies, while working collaboratively and in a coordinated fashion with police and security officers during field work. CERF clinicians provide individual field based crisis intervention Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications 3+ Years Post-licensure experience with relevant prior experience and training (Required) 5+ Years Professional experience in a mental health setting (Required) Previous Psychiatric Crisis/Field Based Response/Hospitalization experience (Preferred) Demonstrated ability to conduct crisis intervention and de-escalation. (Required) Demonstrated skills in consultation work with professional and non-professional colleagues. (Required) Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication. (Required) Demonstrated ability to evaluate and intervene with severely disturbed students. (Required) Demonstrated ability to supervise licensed counselors, postdoctoral fellows, interns, and other clinical trainees. (Required) Knowledge of applicable laws and ethics pertaining to mental health. (Required) Demonstrated skills in providing outreach and prevention services. (Required) Demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision. (Required) Knowledge of developmental issues in University populations. (Required) Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary environment. (Required) Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Windows, Word, EMR (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required) Licensed in a behavioral health counseling discipline (Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker (LMFT, LCSW, etc) or related field) currently licensed to practice in the State of CA. (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
