The Senior Associate Director for Engaged Digital Learning supports the mission of the UCLA Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) to elevate and celebrate inclusive excellence in teaching by helping instructors modernize and improve their teaching and promote equitable student learning through effective adoption of educational technology and digital tools available in the learning management system (LMS). Reporting to the TLC Director of Graduate Student ily for graduate student teaching assistants (TAs), lending expertise, as needed, to support current instructors of record and future faculty interested in teaching with technology and effectively delivering instruction across disciplines and teaching modalities. The Senior Associate Director will offer consultations, workshops, webinars, and other on campus and/or online and hybrid events; develop asynchronous e-learning modules, online teaching guides, and other website resources; and engage in outreach campaigns in coordination with the TLC communications team. The Senior Associate Director for Engaged Digital Learning serves as a project manager for Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholar Engagement programming, contributing to unit-level strategic planning and workflow alignment with other units across the TLC, and also advises and trains TLC teaching support staff on the effective use of educational technology and LMS tools. In order to carry out these responsibilities, the Senior Associate Director is expected to keep abreast of current and developing learning theories and evidence-based pedagogical practices in e-learning and instructional design in order to serve as a resource for TAs, instructors, TLC staff, and the wider UCLA community of educators and teaching support staff. Qualifications 5 yrs of experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education supporting teaching and learning with technology, or equivalent experience. (Required) 1. Master’s degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five years of experience in higher education supporting teaching and learning with technology, or equivalent experience. (Required) 2. Expert knowledge of pedagogical theory and instructional design principles, and of established and emerging trends in educational technology. (Required) 3. Established experience facilitating the integration of educational technology into course design to support student learning in on campus, hybrid, and online environments. (Required) 4. Proven ability to design and deliver training workshops in person, online/hybrid, and/or via asynchronous eLearning platforms. (Required) 5. Strong project management skills and ability to adapt to changing or competing priorities in a complex work environment, while being able to work independently with minimal direction and to collaborate effectively within a team environment without losing momentum or direction. (Required) 6. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including university staff, graduate student instructors, faculty, administrators, some of whom may have limited prior exposure to or experience using educational technology. (Required) 7. Ability to research new technology tools and synthesize findings by preparing written reports and technical documentation/training materials for diverse audiences with attention to detail and accuracy. (Required) 8. Expert knowledge of best practices for the creation and use of media elements in course design and training. (Required) 9. Expert knowledge of the following software platforms: Microsoft 365 Suite; Google Suite; Adobe Suite; online conferencing software (e.g., Zoom); Canvas; WordPress; course authoring tools (e.g. Articulate or Captivate); Asana. (Required) 10. MA in Instructional Design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required) 11. Knowledgeable of current policies, and practices that impact educational technology adoption and growth at UCLA and the ability to anticipate future trends affecting the educational technology landscape. (Preferred) 12. Ability to work on campus with the potential for a hybrid schedule.
