Digital Technology Manager (Injection Operations)

Digital Technology Manager is responsible for planning, developing and managing the deployment of Predictive Maintenance Systems and Emerging Tech solutions for all of Niagara’s fixed assets. This position will own the product end-to-end, create and manage product vision, strategy and roadmap, and lead a team to deliver high quality products. This role will include performing extensive research on predictive systems and emerging technologies that contribute to a digitalized manufacturing landscape and tailor it to Niagara’s use cases.  In addition, it includes managing condition monitoring technologies and design continuous health monitoring systems through various IIoT solutions to ensure all predictive maintenance related metrics and projects are maintained, completed and the company maintenance culture is at par with Industrie 4.0.

Detailed Description

  • Digitalization Strategy Development and Execution –
    • Lead the development of a long-term Industry 4.0 roadmap, specifically tailored for reliability and maintenance across Niagara’s manufacturing plants, to enhance operational efficiency and align with global best practices. 
    • Develop actionable plans to integrate Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things), AI (Artificial Intelligence), big data analytics, robotics, and advanced automation into the manufacturing asset management framework. 
    • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure the success of Industry 4.0 initiatives, such as reduction in unplanned downtime, improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and increased asset utilization. 
  • Data Acquisition & Edge computing for CBM/PdM Systems Development –
    • Define data acquisition requirements and partner with OEM’s to make data available at the edge for computing
    • Oversee development of data processing and aggregation at the edge for continuous monitoring systems
    • Design infrastructure and layout for Predictive analytic systems through Continuous Monitoring of critical asset parameters
    • Oversee development of highly scalable data management systems
    • Ensure CBM and PdM systems meet business requirements and industry practices
    • Explore applications of field data sources for acquisition and new uses for existing data
    • Improvise data set processes for data modeling, mining and production
    • Research new data processing technologies and software engineering tools to integrate into existing structures
    • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
  • App Development –
    • Oversee development of native Windows/MacOS/Android applications including UI frontend and backend.
    • Ensure validation of system and protocol design and development.
    • Manage requirements for deployment of solutions org-wide in a timely manner.
  • Workforce Enablement and Cultural Shift –
    • Training Programs: Create and deliver comprehensive training modules to upskill employees on Industry 4.0 technologies, fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability. 
    • Change Management: Lead initiatives to encourage adoption of digital tools across all levels of the organization, minimizing resistance to change. 
    • Autonomous Maintenance: Promote a culture where frontline workers are empowered to use digital tools for proactive maintenance tasks. 
  • CBM/PdM Systems Integration –
    • Drive Niagara’s manufacturing digitalization journey from Asset Management stand-point
    • Identify areas of opportunities for digitalization within Asset Management
    • Represent Asset Management in Niagara’s IIoT’s champions committee to effectively communicate requirements on Predictive Maintenance systems
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance component life cycle through development of SMART tracking systems
    • Lead integration initiatives of CBM/PdM systems, Continuous Health Monitoring, Performance monitoring, CMMS systems into one platform
    • Define requirements for digital twin and connect asset health data for visualization on multiple platforms
  • Predictive Modeling –
    • Research data science tools & platforms and recommend most suitable infrastructure for organization
    • Define data flow/traffic requirements from edge to cloud for modeling
    • Partner with IT team to define centralized data storage schema for model building
    • Oversee development of ML models for predictive analytics over component/assembly failure
    • Design closed loop systems for deploying ML models at the edge for real-time actionable insights
    • Manage programs to build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts
    • Manage cross functional project goals with a team of data architects, modelers and IT team members
    • Oversee development of interactive front end for display of statistical data along with asset health KPI’s and actionable insights
    • Define stakeholder communication systems for on-time decision making of required maintenance action
  • Emerging Tech Applications –
    • Identify areas of opportunity that leads to increase in Asset Reliability by applying Emerging Technologies. 
    • Explore latest industry trends and identify technologies, which can provide creative and sustainable solutions/products for improving overall Asset Reliability.
    • Lead the process of requirements gathering and configuration to meet the needs of customers – this will include working with cross-functional team members within business and IT
    • Define solutions, provide estimates on effort and risk, and evaluate technical feasibility
    • Identify and articulate initiative scope, benefits and ROI for the solution.
    • Develop and communicate a point of view on complex technical topics. Align multiple domains, both technical and non-technical, on this common vision.
    • Understand customer and system requirements and understand basic architectural approaches to know how new technologies are to be applied.
    • Work in an AGILE development environment and deliver innovative solutions to cater the need of the hour.
    • Design systems and processes to maximize use cases of AR/VR applications into Asset Reliability with end goal of developing digital twin models for Niagara’s fixed Assets.
  • Digital Technology Manager is estimated to travel 20-40%

Work Experience/KSA’s

  • Required:
    • 3-5 years  – Experience in the Manufacturing Industry or other related field
    • 2-4 years  – Experience in Position including Systems Development experience

  • Preferred:
    • 5-7 years  –   Experience in execution of data science lifecycle/Emerging tech in high-speed manufacturing industry, experience with data science and visualization tools.
    • 3-5 years  – Experience in Position including systems development experience

Preferred Competencies and Skills

  • Understanding of PLC/SCADA systems such SIEMENS S7, ALLEN BRADLEY, and Ignition etc.
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
  • Preferred experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc.
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig. Etc
  • Proficiency in, but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio, etc.
  • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Advanced understanding of data acquisition and processing tools and techniques and developing algorithms on common platforms to generate outputs
  • Understanding of latest Emerging technologies such as AR/VR/XR, Object/Image Recognition, Machine Learning and AI, IIoT, Blockchain etc.
  • Experience integrating software solutions in manufacturing environments
  • Experience in creating business or consumer applications and delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives.
  • Experience with product management in an agile software product development environment.
  • Experience on interaction Design, UI workflows, UI wireframes, Visual Design, etc. on multi-platforms
  • Basic scripting and programming skills
  • Able to translate data into recommendable actions to senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a proven record of taking initiative

Education

  • Minimum Required: 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Industrial/Automation/Data Science/Mechanical or other related fields or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: 
    • Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Industrial/Automation/Data Science/Mechanical Engineering

Typical Compensation Range

Pay Rate Type: Salary

$130,380.85 – $189,052.24 / Yearly

Bonus Target: 10% Annual
