Michael Baker International is seeking a highly motivated Senior Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic Bridge Department in Santa Ana, CA. As a key member of our local and regional Bridge Practice, the Senior Bridge Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of various civil and transportation projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects, including bridges, retaining walls, flood control structures, and other related infrastructure. The Senior Bridge Engineer will be responsible for preparing structural plans, specifications, cost estimates, calculations, reports, and providing general technical support on a variety of civil and transportation projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares studies, construction documents, calculations, reports and other supporting documentation to support structural design of transportation projects.
  • Reviews quantities and construction cost estimates prepared by others.
  • Prepares or reviews project technical specifications.
  • Supervises the preparation of drawings for bridges and structural components involved in roadway and transportation projects.
  • Coordinates’ tasks and project schedules and budgets.
  • Performs QA/QC reviews of drawings, specifications and cost estimates
  • Communicates with clients regarding project issues, leads meetings as necessary.
  • Reviews shop drawings for conformance with contract plans.
  • Defines scope of work and staff hours requirements.
  • Participates in proposal production and implementing marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinates with engineers and technicians to ensure accurate deliverables meeting client expectations.
  • Performs detailed technical and peer reviews.
  • Serves as the project ‘task manager;’ responsible for all facets of the task related to structural design components of projects.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering. M.S. Structural Engineering highly preferred
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive work experience in structural/bridge design
  • Solid understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and other relevant codes
  • Solid understanding of California DOT (Caltrans) standards and procedures for bridge design
  • Proficiency with bridge analysis and design software programs

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $140,000-$220,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
