Archaeology Lecturer, Winter 2025 University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10068 The Archaeology Interdepartmental Program at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) invites applications for a lecturer position to teach the following course during the Winter quarter, 2025. The quarter begins on January 2 and ends on March 21. Laboratory Topics in Archaeology: Provenance Research: M205A Scientific examination of cultural heritage objects investigating materials, technology, provenance, and authenticity. Practical work on archaeological artifacts. The appointment will be at the lecturer level and will be located at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology. Duties include preparation and delivery of lectures and laboratory practical sessions and supervision of technical studies conducted on archaeological objects. Candidates should hold a graduate degree in conservation from a recognized academic institution and a PhD in a related discipline. Applicants should have a specialization in the analysis of archaeological objects, with at least 5 years experience investigating ancient materials to determine provenance and/or authenticity. Experience with the following techniques is required: multimodal examination and imaging, PLM, metallography, pXRF, XRD. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous academic teaching experience at the graduate level, both in delivering theoretical lectures and developing and supervising technical studies in the laboratory.
