Position Summary The Coordinator, Exhibition Design and Production, supervises the exhibition design and fabrication for installation of museum objects, using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. The coordinator performs project management and exhibition planning for the Museum in the areas of scheduling, procurement, and construction and space planning. Primary responsibilities include designing, coordinating, and supervising construction and fabrication, as required, for exhibitions and other installation projects, including coordinating contractors and vendors, and part time exhibition design staff. Coordinator develops and produces exhibition floor plans for curators and production drawings for contractors, fabricators, and other vendors; producing construction calendar and project phasing and scheduling in consultation with other museum departments; consulting on furniture and equipment needs for exhibitions; and regularly coordinating schedules and budgets with appropriate staff and consultants. Works closely with supervisor, Director, Operations, Associate Director, Technology, on matters related to building infrastructure and furniture, equipment, A/V, and IT needs, and works with appropriate staff and consultants, including outside exhibition designers, on special projects as directed. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 3+ year Experience in supervising and leading a team (Required) Knowledge of construction standards and techniques (Required) Ability to effectively plan and manage long- and short-term projects (Required) Ability to effectively set and adjust priorities; ability to work proactively under conditions of fluctuating workload and tight, conflicting deadlines (Required) Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating professionally with colleagues across departments, and interacting appropriately with all levels of staff, artists, guest curators, contractors, and vendors (Required) Skill in setting schedules, including organizing workflow, and coordinating concurrent timelines to ensure adherence to schedules and timely opening of exhibitions (Required) Ability to maintain accurate and reliable records and filing and organizational systems (Required) Experience in proper handling and safe installation of exhibition elements (Required) Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to provide clear and concise instructions to all levels of staff (Required) Ability to read building plans and detail drawings (Required) Knowledge of current architectural modeling and rendering applications such as CAD, Vectorworks, Rhino, SketchUP (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in related area and / or equivalent combination of education and experience / training (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
