Department Summary The LADCFS+UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence (AWE) which is an ongoing contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Families (DCFS), whereby universities in Los Angeles County with master’s degree programs in social work provide training to new and current employees at DCFS, particularly new hire Children’s Social Workers (CSWs), current CSWs, and Supervising Social Workers (SCSWs), Human Services Aides (HSAs), Child Service Administrators (CSAs), Eligibility Workers, public health nurses (PHNs), other managers and administrators, case aides, and public stakeholders. Position Summary Under direct supervision of the Training Director of the LADCFS+UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence, the Trainer will have responsibilities to 1) train topics relevant to public child welfare to LA County DCFS social workers and other DCFS staff to about 40-50 participants, 2) reviews child welfare curriculum content for relevance and eligibility for Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Continuing Education Unit (CEU) accreditation, 3) write curriculum relevant to public child welfare. This position requires knowledge of public child welfare subject matter expertise on various topics and practice. Previous experience as a child social worker is preferred and would be competitive. Position requires a current and active LCSW and working knowledge of BBS requirements for obtaining a licensure as LCSW such as knowing what courses are required for pre-licensure and maintaining licensure. Previous 3-5 years experience in training and 1-2 years writing curriculum for public child welfare are desirable. Master’s degree in social work or closely related field. This position requires strong working knowledge and/or expertise in child welfare and training (live and virtual) experience as well as strong project management skills, interpersonal, presentation, collaboration, and facilitation skills are required. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 3-5 Years Experience in child welfare setting; definitive knowledge of public child welfare social work practice. (Required) Demonstrated 3-5 years of training and 1-2 years of curriculum development experience. (Required) Strong interpersonal, teaming, and collaboration skills. (Required) Demonstrated excellent work ethic, personal responsibility for completion of work independently. (Required) Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and abilty to apply it in training delivery. (Required) Excellent communication, presentation, engagement and facilitation skills. (Required) Familiarity with Los Angeles DCFS policy and procedures, practice, mission, and practice model. (Preferred) Commitment to diversity and cultural humility, culturally competent practice. (Required) Excellent writing, editing, grammatical skills as well as familiarity with power point, excel, worked and computer savvy. (Required) Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task and handle multiple assignments in short time frames.
