Description
As the Office Executive you will manage and oversee all office personnel and business activities and unify local leadership for Michael Baker International in the Long Beach and Los Angeles offices. In this position the right candidate will serve as a senior leader collaborating with other senior regional leaders for the management and growth of these two offices and their practices, which include supporting various aspects of the primary Planning sub practices, including Environmental Planning, Agency Staffing, and Housing and Community Development, as well as design and engineering practices. The primary regional focus will be Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties within the Southern California market while fostering collaboration with offices throughout California and the Western region.
Currently the Long Beach and Los Angeles offices are primarily composed of planners and transportation engineers. You will help grow the offices working closely with the staff, National / Regional Market and Practice Leads, Office and Practice Executive peers, the Santa Ana Office Executive and the Western Regional Director. This position requires you to direct and lead the office in support of all projects. The Office Executive provides oversight of day-to-day office operations while developing, guiding, and managing the growth of a balanced office portfolio, reflective of the enterprise capabilities of Michael Baker International. The Office Executive is also charged with expanding the core business of Michael Baker including deepening our relationships with current clients, adding new markets, developing new clients, and expanding the capabilities/service offerings beyond the current skills of the office. You must be versed in making business decisions and have a track record of being accountable for office-level performance.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading and supervising a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating between Southern California offices, and in the development of targeted client service action plans in collaboration with others.
- You will embody the spirit of collaboration and transparency within the Long Beach and Los Angeles offices that exemplifies a supportive environment using work share in an effective manner with other offices in the West.
- You will manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker services within a specific area to best serve the interests of the clients and Michael Baker.
- You will be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker International staff and office leadership.
- You will determine direction and lead market awareness including involvement in professional associations (e.g., APA, AEP, ULI, ACEC and others in the Los Angeles area), technical articles, conferences, and boards.
- You will diversify the service offerings in the office based on client and market opportunities.
- You will review marketing materials and work with our Business Development Associates and Media Services to help enhance Michael Baker marketing collateral and techniques.
- You will review existing projects and current on-call contracts, particularly with the greater Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, clients and the rest of the West Region to identify opportunities for additional work and to mine task orders.
- You will ultimately be responsible for office revenue and profit, as well as headcount growth through recruitment and staff development.
- You will continually bring in new work and increase back log, including operating as the Principal-in-Charge or Project Manager for critical pursuits. Expand market share and client base focused on local governments and agencies located in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties, as well as clients including but not limited to LA Metro, CSU, South Bay Cities COG, Gateway Cities COG, SCAG, MWD and LADWP. Be responsible for headcount growth.
- You will promote work share with other offices and develop a balanced office portfolio reflective of Michael Baker International enterprise capabilities.
- You will identify and develop emerging talent and leadership to create upward opportunity and succession planning.
- You will be responsible for staff supervision and development.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Geography, Urban Studies or a related discipline from an accredited program
- 15+ years of experience in consulting and/or Project Management with 10+ years supervising personnel.
- 10+ years of experience in Business Development / Local (county, municipal) government experience
- Excellent communication skills and community and professional leadership experience
- Strong ability to identify, develop, and capture business.
- Ability to interact successfully with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Strong relationships with clients in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura Counties strongly preferred.
- Computer skills: MS Office Suite
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $156,886-$271,816 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
