Department Summary The Collaboration, Productivity, & Workplace Products team at UCLA is responsible for the entire lifecycle of the university?s core SaaS products ensuring an efficient and effective workplace. This team handles everything from and configuration to the ongoing monitoring, testing, delivery, optimization, and refinement of these tools. These products cover a wide range of functionalities, including communication, project management, document and file sharing, digital creativity, digital signatures, timekeeping/attendance, and cloud storage. Examples of these tools include Office 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Box, Adobe Creative Cloud, DocuSign, and Kronos.Equally important, the team also manages the technical engineering and operational lifecycle services for critical UCLA infrastructure like the BruinCard System, Time and Attendance Systems and other internal applications. Their responsibilities also extend to optimizing user experience and addressing digital accessibility needs. They collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams to ensure the products meet business and user requirements and work closely with business stakeholders to iterate on and improve the products continually. Position Summary The Application Programmer, Workplace IT Products will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and support of products/applications, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security. They will support environment configurations for various applications/products and install, enable and/or upgrade new vendor releases and other software needed to support the application platform(s). This individual will also assist in the resolution of Tier 3 operational support issues, playing a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of UCLA’s technology offerings, directly impacting the success and efficiency of the university. If needed, they may also support user and application security setup including account setup and permission sets. The Application Programmer, Workplace IT Products will positively impact UCLA’s operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively workplace products in service of the institution’s academic mission. This team member will advance the University’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Three years experience working in one or more of the following fields: application programming, software development, database administration, data services, or a related field. (Required) Thorough experience with common programming tools. Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. (Required) Five or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: application programming, software development, database administration, data services. (Preferred) Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred) Skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts. (Required) Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans. (Required) Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar. (Required) Demonstrated software repository skills. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Familiarity with one or more of the following tools: Campus ID Card systems like Transact-Campus or similar, Card Printing solutions like Entrust Instant ID or similar, Time and Attendance systems, Linux/Windows (Required) Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications. (Required) Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (Required) Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required) Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. Ability to work in a project-based environment using project management practices. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training. (Required) Special Conditions for Employment The anticipated pay range for this position is $108,834 – $121,000, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
