Assistant Project Scientist University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10111 The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Scientist with expertise in studies on mouse models of patient-specific mutations in epigenes and follow up in human- patient derived cell cultures. The candidate will primarily be responsible for designing, managing and executing experiments related to research projects involving management of the breeding of epigene-mutated mice, design and execution of experiments testing behavior, cellular and molecular mechanism, and pre-clinical drug testing. The duties of the Assistant Project Scientist, will include: taking part in project design and management; development and validation of assays and protocols that benefit his/her project as well as other research objectives in the lab; training and overseeing employees and students joining the lab to perform epigenomic research on mouse models and human cell culture, promotion of the use of validated assays within and beyond the UCLA research community; compilation, organization and presentation of experimental results to the project team and the department; preparation of publications and presentation of experimental results at scientific meetings. He/She should be able to work collaboratively with other research teams as part of interdepartmental and inter-institutional project collaboration. The applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Research and must have at least three years of experience in the fields of model organism studies in chromatin modifiers, genome sequencing and human cell culture. The candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
