Position Summary The Assistant Resident Director is an entry-level professional position responsible for assisting the Resident Director with the implementation of the student development program in the residential community. Assigned to a community of approximately 250-1100 students, and may work with 8-24 Resident Assistants/ Apartment Resident Assistants and other student leaders. Under the supervision of the Resident Director, provides support to student staff advising and training; program oversight; Student Government advising; counseling/advising individuals; emergency/crisis response; student conduct; collaborate with Front Desk operations, Housing Assignments and Dining Services to provide student service. This position is a full-time, live-in residence, contract position. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Understanding of student development principles and work place application. (Preferred) Strong verbal and written communication skills. (Required) Strong organizational and project management skills. (Required) Experience advising and counseling individuals or groups. (Required) Experience in designing and facilitating meetings and educational workshops (Required) Ability to market and publicize activities in a creative way. (Required) Knowledge of University Policy (Preferred) Demonstrated experience and ability to constructively engage others in complex diversity issues in on campus housing. (Required) Experience with planning and implementing programs/activities (Required) Ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with clients and co-workers. (Required) Experience in organizing events and activities to promote student engagement. (Required) Proficiency in programming planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and initiatives. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience/training (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
