Psychologist, Counseling and Psychological Services The Psychologist of the Counseling and Psychological Services is to provide the MSMU community with responsive, ethical and professional clinical services as well as outreach and consultation activities that are conducive to enhancing student development and supporting the educational mission of the University. Work Location: Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles) Start Date: Immediately or by July 1, 2025 Applications Deadline: Open until filled Annual Salary Rate Range: $86,994.00 Monthly Salary Rate Range: $7,249.50 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides crisis intervention, psychotherapy and referrals for students on both campuses. Provides supervision to trainees. Keep updated on supervision training per Board of Psychology requirements, and abreast of legal/ethical issues. Acts as a consultant to faculty, staff, and students on mental health concerns and possible intervention strategies. As requested by director, provide psycho-educational outreach programming and training for the university community. These programs can include presentations, workshops, training for student leaders, special projects, collaborative efforts with other departments, etc. As a participating member of the CPS team, be an active participant in strategic planning, evaluation and program development, and initiatives. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Performs other job-related duties, such as projects, as assigned Attends specified staff meetings, orientation sessions, and campus committees Provides on-call services for emergencies as designated. Coordinates with departmental personnel to develop outreach opportunities Assumes clinical services, outreach and on-call duties during summer Job Requirements: Knowledge: Working knowledge of psychological clinical assessment and intervention techniques, crisis interventions strategies, supervision practices, current research, effective treatment strategies, telehealth, and legal and ethical guidelines. Maintain and manage confidential information. Knowledge of identity development and the factors that influence student development for college populations. Understand the needs and issues of university students from inclusive perspectives and the specific needs of MSMU students. Working knowledge of computers, including ability to access internet resources and operate an electronic health records system. Abilities and Skills: Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. Exercise sound judgment and decision-making and handle confidential and sensitive information effectively. Ability to be analytical, empathetic, resourceful and quickly learn new things. Accurately assess core issues/problems and generate possible, plausible solutions. Identify and implement appropriate psychological interventions. Work well independently. Demonstrate an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs of students, faculty and staff in a university environment. Ability to deliver workshops that foster inclusive excellence, enhance emotional growth, and support the academic success of students. Build rapport, communicate and work effectively with students and trainees. Excellent listening, interpersonal, oral/written communication and presentation skills. Ability to keep efficient and accurate records. Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited institution. Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a college counseling center which can include a training year. Skills in short-term therapy, crisis intervention and psycho-educational programming; ability to work with all college students. Experience working with young adults using inclusive treatment practices is required. Preferred: one year of experience in the supervision of psychology trainees Licenses and Certifications: Licensed as a psychologist in California or obtain license within one year of hiring.
