Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. The Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing high-quality products, managing supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. This role will work cross-functionally with inventory, planning, and program management teams to forecast business needs and make purchasing decisions based on demand.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate MRP requirements and coordinate with Planning to schedule purchase orders to meet customer expectations.
Interpret input from ERP systems to generate and process purchase orders.
Ensure timely processing of purchase requisitions and notify originators of any issues or delays.
Process and manage purchase order confirmations and approved vendor changes.
Enter changes into the ERP system and communicate updates to relevant teams.
Collaborate with Planning and Program Management to resolve scheduling discrepancies that may affect deliveries.
Review and act on MRP pull-ins, push-outs, and cancellation recommendations daily.
Monitor and update open purchase orders with current tracking info, delivery changes, and other relevant details.
Proactively mitigate risks related to shortages, backorders, and extended lead times.
Identify obsolete materials and communicate supplier-recommended alternatives to Program Management.
Request and evaluate cost estimates; negotiate pricing based on standard costs.
Provide purchasing recommendations using forecasted program data and historical trends to improve cost efficiency.
Notify Program Management of significant cost increases (over 5% or $50 above MRP requirements per line/schedule) and obtain Supply Chain Manager approval.
Monitor vendor performance according to quality standards; issue SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests) as needed.
Validate disposition of non-conforming materials in accordance with quality protocols.
Research and vet new suppliers to enhance performance and cost savings.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to align with company objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Competencies:
Strong understanding of MRP and ERP systems (experience with Infor M3 is a plus).
Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships.
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.
Experience in component sourcing is highly desirable.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of purchasing or procurement experience.
Experience in contract manufacturing or the aerospace industry is a plus.eat position as a buyer today!
