Position Summary
Under the general guidance of the Senior Director of Career Services and in collaboration with the LL.M. counselor, cultivate and coordinate employment and networking opportunities, establish relationships with alumni and potential employers, manage an LL.M. interview program, develop career education programs for LL.M. and J.D. students, and provide career counseling to LL.M. students. The LL.M. Career Services Assistant Director oversees career services of 200 UCLA LL.M. students. The incumbent cultivates relationships with employers and guides the LL.M. and SJD population in obtaining professional opportunities and/or practical experience during law school and after graduation. The Assistant Director must navigate managing the expectations of 200 LL.M. students while providing support, guidance and opportunities for their professional development. The LL.M. Career Services Assistant Director must be able to lead and skillfully communicate with LL.M. students from diverse backgrounds from across the globe. The incumbent oversees programming for this student population, including planning and organizing events, such as a large interview program and speaker series, and hosting employer site visits. The incumbent also establishes mentorship opportunities with key lawyers and employers for both LL.M. and J.D. students. An ideal candidate will have a Law degree and legal experience, a demonstrated ability to build a professional network within the legal market, and knowledge of various types of legal practice. The candidate must be able to effectively network with employers from various fields including law firms, business entities and public interest organizations.
