Controller – Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Location: Pasadena, CA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch)
On-site Position

A respected nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Controller for a full-time, on-site role in Pasadena. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity reporting directly to the senior executive team and managing a small accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day finance operations including budgeting, payroll, general ledger, AP/AR, and financial reporting.

Supervise a small team including payroll, AP, and AR staff.

Ensure compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and nonprofit accounting standards.

Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Support internal departments in budget development and financial forecasting.

Monitor grant financial compliance and prepare related reporting.

Coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors.

Evaluate financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.

Maintain strong internal controls and manage finance-related systems and software.

What We’re Looking For:

CPA required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)

Minimum 7+ years in a senior-level finance/accounting role

At least 3 years of supervisory experience

Prior experience with fund accounting (nonprofit sector) required

Strong understanding of financial systems and internal controls

Hands-on leadership style with a focus on accuracy and collaboration
