Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is searching for a* Embedded Software Engineer* to support our Software and Test Equipment Software department. As a member of the SW department you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make our technologies a reality. This position will serve on-site at Sentinel Program, at our Woodland Hills, CA facility. This position will be 100% on-site.
This position may be filled as a Principal Embedded Software Engineer or a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer.
The candidate will serve as an Software Engineer for Sentinel Program, requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment. Daily responsibilities may include:
*Roles and Responsibilities: *
* Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate software issues to support subsystem and system level Design Verification Tests (DVTs).
* Communicate SW project status to the Software IPT Lead.
* Collaborate with research scientists and systems engineers to implement requirement verification approaches.
* Design, develop, and implement testing methods for individual pieces of equipment (both custom and COTS) and entire systems.
* Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
* Documenting & dispositioning software discrepancies, pursuing root cause & corrective actions
*Basic Qualifications for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer:*
* Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 0 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields
* U.S. Citizenship is required
* Active DoD Secret clearance is required
* Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
* Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Simulink, and C#.
* Ability to work at a fast pace, while multi-tasking, and still communicate effectively
* Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
* Experience in Test script development with HW interfaces
* Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification
*Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer:*
* Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields
* U.S. Citizenship is required.
* Active DoD Secret clearance is required
* Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
* Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Simulink, and C#.
* Ability to work at a fast pace, while multi-tasking, and still communicate effectively
* Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
* Experience in Test script development with HW interfaces
* Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Designs, develops, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements.
* Working knowledge of environmental test equipment: interface controls with thermal chambers, rate tables, and vibration tables.
* Working knowledge of Kalman filters and Inertial Measurement Units
* Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
* Expert level modeling of Simulink with Hardware in the Loop.
* Ability to troubleshoot Test Equipment HW and PCs for integration with embedded test software.
* Working knowledge or experience with an RTOS

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Salary Range: $110,300.00 – $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 – $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
