Job Summary The Research Technician will maintain animal breeding colonies with capability to manage complex genetics and assist in animal experiments. This is a full-time position, with time split 50/50 between labs. Reliability is a must as some responsibilities are time critical. The successful candidate will be required to work some weekends. Essential Job Duties Performing sterile technique and basic molecular biology (DNA preps, PCR). Keeping weekly mouse inventory, coordinating and working with lab members on mouse breeding. Genotyping: sample collection, DNA purification, PCR reactions, restriction digests, and gels. Assisting in animal experimentation. Maintaining mouse colony: managing breeders, performing analyses and computational tracking of complex genotypes. Working with animal facility staff to coordinate animal colony activities. Keeping inventory of critical animal-related supplies. Working with lab personnel for problem-solving. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in science and lab experience. High integrity and professionalism, including reliability and excellent communication skills. Significant experience with animals (mice). Ability to accurately make common lab solutions. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to work on weekends as needed. Willing to learn new techniques from laboratory personnel. Team player. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of tissue culture techniques is a plus. Skilled at strategic thinking to support complex mouse breeding plans. Knowledge of basic genetics.
