Description

Under general supervision, the incumbent delivers age-appropriate nursing care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary outpatient clinic setting. This role plays a vital part in supporting patient care and clinic operations by ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate service aligned with UCLA Health’s C-I-CARE and Patient Experience standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect comprehensive patient health data, including medical history and medication reconciliation

  • Measure and record vital signs, initiate IVs, and obtain venous blood samples

  • Prepare and assist with in-clinic procedures, including instrument processing and sterilization

  • Administer prescribed medications and injections accurately and safely

  • Process medication prescriptions and ensure proper documentation in patient records

  • Assist with patient education, including instructions on new medications, procedure preparation (e.g., endoscopy), and use of educational tools

  • Maintain smooth patient flow and support continuity of care within assigned clinic(s)

  • Ensure accurate documentation of all patient interactions in accordance with departmental and institutional policies

  • Respond effectively to changes in workload and remain composed during frequent interruptions or emergency situations

Salary Range: $34.61-$45.66/hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with Intravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal certification
  • BLS Card from ARC or AHA
  • Able to speak, understand, read and write English to convey information at all levels of understanding
  • Able to perform independently and interdependently
  • Able to maintain positive working relationship with all team members, patients, and families
  • Able to take blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and perform EKG
  • Able to perform tasks with frequent interruption
  • Able to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance and indifference
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures
  • Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed
  • Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician
  • Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life threatening medical problems
  • Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers
  • Skill to perform CPR
  • Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain good attendance
  • Skill and knowledge to submit quality work in a timely manner
