UCLA Music Industry 2025-26 Part-Time Lecturer in Songwriting University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10605 The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in Music Industry for the Fall quarter of the 2025-26 academic year. Depending on program needs, a Winter quarter appointment may also be available. The position will staff a Songwriter’s Workshop course, designed to provide a supportive community for student songwriters to work together under the supervision of Music Industry faculty. Salary will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, experience and teaching workload. Responsibilities will include individual student teaching supervision and assigned undergraduate course(s) in the School of Music. Applicants should have sufficient knowledge of music theory to teach songwriting in higher education. They should have the ability to communicate effectively and provide thoughtful feedback throughout the songwriting process. A bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum of one professional certification in a related field is required. Applicants with experience as a professional songwriter/recording artist, or with relevant professional experience in the music industry will be preferred. University teaching experience is preferred. Applications must include: 1) a cover letter stating interest in the position and summarizing relevant experience, 2) a comprehensive resume or curriculum vitae, 3) a statement of teaching philosophy, 4) a response to the University’s Mission Statement, 5) a reference check authorization release and 6) names and contact information for at least three professional references.
