Department Summary UCLA?s Economics Department has two interlocking objectives. We conduct cutting edge research by developing new methodologies and applying them to understand society?s most critical issues. We also seek to train the next generation of economic leaders in the private sector, government and academia.UCLA is one of the top-ranked economics departments in the world. We have a young and active faculty whose research is shaping policy and informing the public on critical issues affecting the United States and the world. Our work covers a diversity of topics such as the origins and persistence of the Great Depression and its lessons for today?s economy, the relationship between education and health outcomes, cartels and antitrust policy, the economics of health care, and the impact of immigration on labor markets. Many of our faculty have received special recognition for their body of research by election to prestigious institutions such as the National Academy of Science, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the Econometric Society, or have received such celebrated awards such as the Guggenheim and Sloan Fellowships.Our undergraduates are equally impressive. They are among the brightest students on campus and consistently go on to find success in the job market and in graduate school. We have approximately 3300 majors at any one time making us the largest among major economics departments across the country and the largest major on campus. Our students come from over 60 countries around the world yet the majority call California their home. Position Summary Under the direction of the MQE Director of Strategy viding general clerical and administrative assistance such as designing flyers and marketing materials, assisting with office organization and supply management, purchasing, and supporting staff and faculty with routine administrative tasks. The incumbent serves as the first point of contact for IT and technical support, providing first-level assistance with computers, printers, software, Wi-Fi, and coordinating with central IT or external vendors for more complex issues. Additional responsibilities include setting up and operating audiovisual equipment for classes, meetings, and events, ensuring technology runs smoothly, and maintaining AV equipment. The incumbent coordinates and tracks student attendance at all events, classes, and workshops; assists with logistical arrangements such as room setup, materials, refreshments, and signage; and provides on-site event support including registration, check-in, and troubleshooting. This position works closely with program staff and faculty to ensure that MQE events and operations run efficiently and effectively, maintaining shared resources, addressing technical issues promptly, and ensuring a welcoming environment for students and visitors. Other duties or special projects may be assigned by the Director of Strategy & Operations. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 1 year Experience supporting instructional technology in a college or university setting. (Preferred) 1 year Knowledge of IT security practices and data privacy requirements in higher education. (Preferred) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work diplomatically with high-level faculty, administrators, and staff. (Required) Willingness to take training and implement learned practices effectively. (Required) Ability to identify and purchase necessary office supplies to support operations. (Preferred) Demonstrated ability to use commercial software tools to resolve operational issues. (Preferred) Ability to assess user skill levels and communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences. (Preferred) Experience training and consulting with users on computer hardware and software, both individually and in group settings. (Required) Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and Wi-Fi issues. (Required) Ability to support and maintain computers, printers, and related hardware, including software installation and updates. (Required) Ability to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot microphones, speakers, projectors, and video conferencing systems. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations High School Diploma or equivalent experience. (Required) And Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience / training.
