Position Overview

As the QA Manager, you will lead our food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and build a culture of food safety throughout our facility. You’ll manage both day-to-day sanitation and long-term strategic quality initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily sanitation and food safety, ensuring strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Drive improvements in product quality and support continuous process enhancements

Coordinate with third-party labs for sample testing and manage testing submissions

Identify and resolve quality and safety issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions

Lead and prepare for SQF and other third-party & regulatory audits; perform supplier audits as needed

Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, state/federal agencies, and certifiers (e.g. Halal, Organic)

Maintain all prerequisite food safety programs such as HACCP, SSOPs, allergen control, and GMPs

Conduct monitoring, verification, and validation of our SQF and HACCP programs

Develop, maintain, and verify SOPs that impact food safety and quality

Manage documentation for new product launches (formulations, labels, specs, nutrition facts)

Oversee wastewater, SWPP, and hazardous waste disposal programs

Ensure equipment calibration and validation are current and well-documented

Provide food safety and quality training to employees

Collaborate with other departments (IT, production, maintenance, capital projects)

Develop and manage the annual QA budget, including staffing and resources

Conduct risk assessments for facility sanitation and new equipment / construction

Communicate quality-related issues to plant leadership and senior management

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field

5–10 years of progressive experience in quality control or food safety, preferably in a meat manufacturing or processing environment

HACCP Practitioner certification required

Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance (USDA, FDA), HACCP, GMP, SSOPs, SQF

Experience managing audits and working with third-party certifiers

Strong Excel and data management skills

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
