Description
The Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time Assistant Surgical Education Laboratory Specialist to support the Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology (CASIT), reporting to the Managing Director. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Center across all locations, including Rosenfeld and CHS. CASIT’s Surgery Simulation Lab plays a vital role in advancing surgical education and clinical skills through high-fidelity simulation training. This position is central to the lab’s operations, ensuring the seamless delivery of simulation-based learning for medical students, residents, faculty, and other healthcare professionals.
This role is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of simulation equipment-including surgical task trainers, virtual reality systems, and high-fidelity mannequins-as well as coordinating logistics, supporting curriculum implementation, and assisting with scenario execution. The individual collaborates closely with surgical educators and administrative staff to develop realistic simulation experiences that enhance technical and non-technical surgical competencies.
Hourly Salary Range: $30.56 – $60.82
Qualifications
Required:
- Effective written and
verbal communication skills. - Analytical and judgment
skills to conduct analyses and develop appropriate recommendations. - Ability to work in a
collaborative manner. - Strong organizational
and technical skills - An understanding of
clinical environments. - Ability to work in a
cadaver lab. - Ability to work onsite
(Tuesday to Saturday)
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of
surgical skills training devices, including simulators. - Knowledge of the
fundamental concepts of the field. Analytical skills, and strong skills in
attention to detail. - Ability to troubleshoot
AV system issues efficiently and effectively. - Working knowledge of all
computing technology in use in CASIT (computers, mobile devices, peripherals,
networks, operating systems, commonly used software applications, etc.). - Working knowledge of PCs
and Macs. Ability to troubleshoot computer and network issues efficiently and effectively. - Ability to work with
frequent interruptions and competing priorities
