For more information about the LACCD, please visit our website at www.laccd.edu . POSITION The instructor will teach a mix of courses in the Multimedia Game Art & Design and Animation disciplines. Department responsibilities include participating in eSports lab, Student Learning Outcome Committee. This is an adjunct, hourly, academic position that may include teaching day, evening, weekend, hybrid, online, in-person, and/or dual enrollment classes. Duties beyond the classroom include office hours. Excellent collaboration, organization and communication skills required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach classes assigned by the Chair on campus (in-person classes), hybrid, online, or at dual enrollment sites. Teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses in game art & design, animation, virtual production, visual development, and production courses. Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment. Remain current in the discipline, teaching methods, and instructional technology Supervise student projects in a production environment. Possible participation in outreach to high schools, open houses (include summer bootcamp), and dual enrollment activities. Advise and mentor game art & design, and animation majors on pathways to careers, certificates, degrees, and transfers processes to promote student success. Assess student performance and maintain accurate student records (rosters and grades), and other administrative requirements. Use a variety of teaching tools, including software, video, and audio technology, including specialty software in animation and game art design. Assignments may be day, evening, or weekends, and may be on the campus, online, or at a Dual Enrollment site. Opportunities exist for summer and winter intersession teaching. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience OR ; Associate’s degree and six years of professional experience. A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. NOTE: Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment. HEALTH: A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant’s expense after selection from an eligible list and prior to employment. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee’s Policy 2900 all employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (any from below): Professional work experience in game production, pre-visualization or virtual production with an emphasis on game level design and game prototyping with Unreal Engine or similar game engine. Expertise in a wide range game art & design and animation software. Experience working with 3D modeling applications such as Autodesk Maya, Blender and Zbrush. Experience teaching students or leading a team in a content production environment. College level teaching experience specialty courses in game art & design or animation. Teaching underprepared students in a community college. Teaching a diverse student population. MFA in animation or game art & design. Possess strong oral, written, and visual communication skills. Networks in local, regional, or national professional or educational organizations. Ability to establish partnerships game or animation companies to build internship or apprenticeship pathways for students. Evidence of learner-centered teaching and ability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed. Experience with a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles. COMPENSATION The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
