Department Summary Founded in 2006, cityLAB is a think tank in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture. One of the leading urban design centers in the country, cityLAB’s mandate is to bring design and research together to forge experimental proposals for architecture in the 21st century metropolis. Its projects engage four broad initiatives: the postsuburban city, rethinking green, urban sensing, and new infrastructures. Through cityLAB, faculty,students, designers, and policy makers collaborate on numerous problems at a range of scales, beginning in Los Angeles but extending beyond the region. cityLAB is a center at UCLA under the department of Architecture and Urban Design that leverages design, research, policy and education to create more just urban futures with real impacts for communities in Los Angeles and beyond. Position Summary The MARKINGS-CITYLAB Assoc Dir independently manages and executes a comprehensive communications program for the MARKINGS Project, which documents and shares the oral histories of Indigenous immigrant families and communities in Los Angeles. This role develops and implements strategies to effectively communicate the project’s mission, programs, and impact through written, visual, digital, and electronic media. The position collaborates with leadership to design branding initiatives and information campaigns that engage diverse audiences and strengthen community partnerships. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.
