Our client, a rapidly growing construction company in Pasadena, is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk with strong QuickBooks Desktop, construction accounting, and certified payroll experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with numbers, and understands the unique billing and reconciliation needs of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
Manage construction billing and job costing, including service billing and contract billing
Process and reconcile accounts payable with accuracy and timeliness
Maintain the accounts receivable ledger, review payments, and support aging reports
Process electronic timesheets and payroll for approximately 10 employees
Perform bank reconciliations, prepare monthly documentation, variance analyses, and journal entries
Support monthly AR/AP cash closing procedures
Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting
Create and maintain detailed accounting spreadsheets in Excel
Ensure accurate entry of financial and transactional data into QuickBooks Desktop
Maintain organized records, files, and documentation related to all accounting processes
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
Certified Payroll Specialist certification required; payroll experience with ~10 employees
Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop is mandatory
Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data organization)
Experience with AR, AP, general ledger, and reconciliations
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree a plus
Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence
Strong organizational and clerical skills
