JOB SUMMARY

The accountant assists the controller in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the accounting department. The position is responsible for managing transactional sales/credit functions, financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, corporate reports, and other administrative functions in the accounting department.

A strong finance / accounting professional with broad finance, accounting, and analysis experience.  Collaborate with operating management to develop insightful business analysis and forecasts. Key staff member solving more complex accounting or reconciliation issues.  Identify and assist in implementing department and operational process improvements.

Responsible for managing or performing work in general financial accounting activities of the organization, including: • Financial transaction recording standards. • Control/reconciliation of accounts and records. • Cost accounting/budgeting. • Accounting reports/schedules for internal audiences (management reporting) and for external audiences (compliance reporting), analytical metrics for margins and trends . • May include administrative/transactional accounting support work, such as ledger maintenance and data entry

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs cost analysis related to buying income programs and vendor programs.

  • Performs financial analysis related to sales, margins, trade show events, and department expenses.

  • Manages and performs functions pertaining to sales transactions, earned income program execution, and accounts payable reconciliation.

  • Oversee the proper functioning of the Revenue Management department.

  • Assists with Corporate reporting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Assists with SOX testing.

  • Assists with the development of the annual profit plan, forecasts, and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Economics

MBA preferred with Accounting or Economics Bachelor’s degree

Experience

3 -5 years operations / financial analysis, and accounting

Professional Skills

  • Advanced excel skills; strong understanding of GAAP principles; ability to analyze balance sheets, income statements, department expense reports

  • Experience with implementing process improvements

  • Cost analysis

  • Journal entry preparation / account reconciliations
