Full-Time Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing, Tenure-Track Position Mount Saint Mary’s University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing. Primary Responsibilities Teaching Teach didactic, clinical, simulation, and/or laboratory courses. Teaching assignments are based on area of expertise. Create learning environments that reflect MSMU’s commitment to inclusive excellence, social justice, and culturally humble nursing practice. Use evidence-based, student-centered teaching strategies that support diverse learners and reduce cognitive overload. Advisement Provide academic advisement, mentorship, and compassionate student support that reflects the CSJ spirit of gentleness, empathy, and encouragement. Scholarship Establish and or maintain an emerging program of scholarly inquiry consistent with Boyer’s model of scholarship and AACN recommendations for Academic Nursing Scholarship. Service Contribute to departmental, college, and university committees, including curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation. Participate in professional organizations and maintain active engagement in the nursing profession. Support mission-driven initiatives that promote unity, reconciliation, and service to the dear neighbor, both within the University and in the broader community. Rank and Salary This is a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and scholarly accomplishments. Tenure expectations follow University policy and include excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $80,791 – $95,000 (dependent on rank and qualifications) Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, EdD) or related field; ABD considered with evidence of timely completion. Unencumbered RN license in California or eligibility for licensure. Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty area. Evidence of effective teaching in academic or clinical settings. Demonstrated potential for scholarly productivity. Preferred Qualifications Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation processes. Experience teaching in multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, online). Certification in specialty practice or nursing education (e.g., CNE). Experience with simulation, virtual reality, or innovative teaching technologies. Professional Expectations Embody the Mount’s core values of compassion, integrity, leadership, and service.
