The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology is seeking to hire a Staff Research Associate I to support laboratory research aimed at advancing our understanding of cardiovascular biology. This role offers handsâon experience with core molecular techniques and the opportunity to contribute directly to ongoing scientific projects.
In this position, you will perform benchâlevel molecular biology experiments, including ELISA assays, protein purification, basic cloning, and histochemistry. You will work closely with the research team to carry out technical components of active studies, ensuring experiments are executed accurately and efficiently.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining organized workspaces, preparing reagents, and supporting dayâtoâday laboratory operations. This role is ideal for someone detailâoriented, motivated, and eager to build strong foundational skills in cardiovascular research.
Hourly range: $28.69-$34.21Qualifications

Required:

  • Good work ethics, strong communication skills, honesty, and ability to work well with minimum supervision or as a part of a group.
  • Understanding of University procedures and policies for working with biohazard, radioactive and chemicals, and their disposal. 
  • General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents.
  • Experience working with mice in research.

Preferred:

  • BS in Molecular Biology or related field. 
  • Excellent skills in molecular biology, cell biology, and tissue culture techniques. 
  • General knowledge of lipid metabolism and genetics.
  • Experience using basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, CO2 incubators, spectrophotometer, PCR machines, pH meter, balances, plate reader, light and fluorescence microscopes, gel documentation) and familiar with both PC and Apple computer systems and software programs (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
