Assistant Professor of Chemistry (Tenure-Track, 9-month) Mount Saint Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2027. We seek a collaborative educator-scholar with expertise in chemical instrumentation who is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and inclusive pedagogy, and to the development of a sustained undergraduate research program. The successful candidate will contribute to a department focused on student-centered learning, hands-on scientific training, and equitable access to research opportunities, particularly for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in general, organic, analytical, and/or physical chemistry, including laboratories Develop, maintain, and actively use shared instrumentation resources in both teaching and research Establish a productive and externally funded undergraduate research program, mentoring and involving students in independent and course-based research Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, student advisement and departmental initiatives Engage in service to the department, university, and broader community Participate in faculty development opportunities and attend conferences Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $73,450 – $76,350 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
