Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Staff Research Associate 2 to support basic and translational research focused on the autoimmune effects of cancer immunotherapies and their relationship to anti-tumor efficacy. Responsibilities include performing immunology and molecular biology techniques, conducting in vivo mouse studies, maintaining genetically engineered mouse colonies, collecting and analyzing tissue samples, and assisting with laboratory operations. Opportunities to support ongoing clinical research studies, including participant recruitment and enrollment, may also be available.

Hourly range: $32.79-$52.75

Qualifications

Required:

  • General knowledge of immunology and molecular biology. (Required)
  • Good work ethic, communication skills and ability to work well independently or as a part of a group. (Required)
  • Understanding of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and chemical waste disposal. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of the microscope and basic laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubators, spectrophotometer, PCR, Q-PCR). (Required)
  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. (Required)
  • Excellent skills in problem solving and data analysis, organization and presentation. (Required)
  • General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents. (Required)

Preferred:

  • BS in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Immunology, and Microbiology, or similar. (Preferred)
  • Experienced in working with mice and ARC certified to work with mice. (Preferred)
