In addition to overseeing accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation and analysis, you will also serve as a leader in overseeing members of our accounting team, providing guidance and direction to ensure accuracy of the teams work and delivery of a high level of standards we share in the value-added financial functions we provide. As our Accounting Manager, you will develop and implement policies and systems utilized by the group to guarantee compliance; recommend and implement process improvements and maintain/promote effective working relationship with campus counterparts on the General Accounting and UC Office of the Presidents Accounting teams. You will also oversee the accounting, and preparation of the year-end audited financial statements for The UCLA Foundation and the UCLA Alumni Association. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications A minimum of 10 years of related accounting experience (Required) Minimum of 3 years of management experience with demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively organize, direct, motivate and evaluate staff. (Preferred) Experience and/or ability to independently manage and delegate multiple complex projects simultaneously and assign priorities to staff. (Required) Experience with fund accounting and public accounting is preferred as is general knowledge of University policies and procedures. (Required) Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and their practical applications; flexibility to adapt to changing accounting requirements. (Required) Ability to record detailed accounting transactions, and complete reconciliations that require knowledge of accounting concepts; skill in handling a high volume of unique financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, reliability and timeliness. (Required) General knowledge of investments in stocks, bonds and money market instruments. (Required) Working knowledge of auditing standards and applications; able to identify and trouble-shoot accounting issues and recommend accounting or system solutions. (Required) Working knowledge of Microsoft Solutions general ledger accounting software. (Required) Ability to research and interpret complex gift agreements and other gift documentation. (Required) Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to explain complex financial and technical information in an understandable manner to all levels of the university community. (Required) Highly organized, efficient and attentive to detail and accuracy; able to independently plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects and activities, follow through on assignments with minimal supervision and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. (Required) Well-developed interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a wide variety of internal and external constituents and to define and achieve organizational objectives. (Required) Skill in making prudent and strategic decisions and taking appropriate action in situations where there may or may not be clearly established criteria or standards. (Required) Superior computer skills, proficiency with MS Office suite specifically, Microsoft Excel, Word, etc. with ability to create and maintain databases and learn new technologies in a prompt and efficient manner. (Required) Political acumen, tact and judgment; skill in handling sensitive situations and materials with discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
