Immediate need for accounts receivable clerk. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, basic proficiency in Excel, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payments, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding receivables.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Process, scan, and record incoming checks and electronic payments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Apply payments to customer accounts, including handling cases with missing or unclear remittance details.
  • Reach out to clients to request missing payment information or resolve discrepancies.
  • Communicate with internal departments to clarify billing and payment-related issues.
  • Contact vendors to request refund details or resolve unapplied credits.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for basic reporting, tracking of accounts, and data entry.
  • Maintain organized accurate records of payment communications and transactions.
  • Post billing invoices billed by operations department to customer accounts and identify any discrepancies or errors in billing.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or relevant coursework in accounting or business is a plus.
  • 1+ year of experience in accounts receivable or a related finance role.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, data entry, and sorting/filtering).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to analyze and resolve account issues with minimal information.
  • Familiarity with check scanning equipment.
