Acquistions Support Specialist SME

LOCATION: El Segundo

JOB STATUS: Full-time to Hybrid

SALARY: 180,000 to 200,000

CLEARANCE: TS/SCI

TRAVEL: 10%-15%

Astrion is seeking an Acquistions Support Specialist SME (Acq SME) professional to join our team in El Segundo, CA.

Space Sensing is one of five SSC program executive offices and is responsible for delivering space-based Missile Warning, Missile Tracking and Missile Defense MW/MT/MD capabilities; space based environmental monitoring (SBEM) capabilities; and other tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities, ensuring end-to-end mission integration.

** Work is Full time on site to Hybrid schedule dependent upon customer requirements. Clearance required is TS/SCI**

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree
  • 15+ years’ experience in DoD space systems acquisition strategies and planning, system life cycle management, sustainment, and transition
  • Operation of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (DoDI 5000 series)
  • Integrated Life Cycle Management (AFI 63-101/20-101)

Preferred Background and Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Space MW/MT/MD programs
  • Familiarity with Ground Systems (FORGE, Resilient Ground Architecture (RGA))
  • Familiarity with space Survivable and Endurable requirements
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE, PMP
  • DAWIA Certifications, such as Program Management Level 1, Life Cycle Logistics Level II

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting Government Program Directors and Program Managers with acquisitions for Space Sensing, including activities for cost, schedule and performance.
  • Develop and update documents for Program Execution, leading integrated product teams, staying engaged in program management related activities, and communicating with contractors who are stakeholders in developing and delivering products to the Government.
  • Support in the execution of resilient space sensing architectures, acquisition documents, technology demonstrations and product development to ensure compliance with technical requirements on the contract.
  • Provide technical acquisition and program planning in evaluation of space sensing program solicitation technical documentation, System Engineering Plan, Integrated Master Plan, Integrated Master Schedule, and contract deliverables for compliance with DoD and SSC policies, guidance, and instructions. Lead acquisition strategy development and acquisition contracting actions, RFIs, RFPs, Statement of Work (SOW) writing, competition analysis, and operations acceptance, provide strategy recommendation to Government leads..
  • Assess whether acquisition plans, acquisition strategies, capability documents, and solicitation documents are accurately reflected in the technical aspects of the programs as defined in the system engineering plans and technical requirements documents, compliance standards and all applicable management plans.
  • Analyze space and ground system program plans, current development, test and evaluation, upgrades, operations and sustainment, and program requirements in compliance with applicable Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force and SSC instructions.
  • Ensure contract technical requirements are performed and in compliance with for space, payload, and ground systems.
  • Participate in formal program reviews. Provide findings and updates to Space Sensing leadership and assist with briefings up the leadership chain.
  • Manage the IPT daily functions including hardware integration and test, and flight software management as required.
